About Landon Kaline Soccer

Landon Kaline - Player Biography

Winger · Fullback · Class of 2028
United States 🇺🇸

Landon William Kaline is a 2009-born American winger and fullback whose development blends elite U.S. youth competition with advanced technical training in Spain and high-level MLS NEXT exposure. Known for his speed, intelligence, and adaptability, Landon has built a pathway uncommon for American players his age.

Early Life & U.S. Development

Born and raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Landon began his competitive soccer journey competing in EDP Division 1 on a highly ranked team. There he was a top goal scorer and contributing many assists. His speed, work rate, and attacking confidence that helped the team earn invitations to international events such as Surf Cup International Salou (Spain) in November 2023.

European Development in Spain

In March 2024, at just 14 years old, Landon made a rare move for an American teenager: he relocated to Spain for full-time training at a private high-performance academy. Immersed in the Spanish methodology, he strengthened his technical precision, first-touch quality, positional understanding, and attacking decision-making. During his time in Europe, Landon competed in two of the continent’s premier youth events: MIC (Mediterranean International Cup) and Surf Cup Salou (Spain).  There he played against elite European academies, where he recorded standout contributions - assist vs Arsenal Youth Academy and an assist vs Villarreal CF Academy.
In April, Landon earned a  trial with CF La Nucía, and was offered a spot on the Juvenile team - a significant accomplishment for an American player entering Spain’s competitive youth system. Although he ultimately returned to the U.S. for family reasons, his European experience remains a defining period in his development.

U.S. Olympic Development Program (ODP) Pathway

During his time in Spain, Landon also played for ODP Europe, representing the United States in international competition. With ODP Europe, he competed in tournaments across Italy and Germany, gaining experience against top European academies and further elevating his exposure on the international stage. Upon returning to the United States, Landon’s growth in Spain earned him an invitation to trial for the highly selective ODP South Region Team—a process reserved for identified prospects. He earned his place on the ODP South Region roster, placing him on the direct pathway toward the ODP National Team, with national trials scheduled for January 2026.

Barça Residency Academy USA, MLS NEXT

Shortly after Landon returned from Spain was invited to trial for the Barça Residency Academy USA in Phoenix, Arizona, the only full-time residential academy in the nation aligned with FC Barcelona’s development standards. From nearly 3,000 trialists, Landon earned one of approximately 60 roster spots across the academy’s age groups. He now competes for the U17 MLS NEXT Academy Division team.

Playing Style & Strengths

Landon is known for his speed and ability to cover ground quickly, making him effective in transition, overlapping runs, and 1v1 duels.
His Spanish training refined his first touch, ball retention, and ability to combine in tight spaces.

Comfortable as both a winger and fullback, he adapts seamlessly to attack-minded or defensive roles. His ability to deliver accurate crosses and progress the ball makes him a threat on the flank.
Landon’s willingness to leave home to train abroad reflects maturity, resilience, and a high-performance mindset uncommon in players his age.

Career Goals

Landon aims to continue his development through MLS NEXT, ODP National Team evaluations, and future opportunities at the collegiate, professional, or international levels. His long-term goal is to play for the US Men's National Team and play professionally either in the U.S. or abroad.
