Landon Kaline is a 2009-born American outside back currently competing for Baltimore Armour U19 MLS NEXT. A right-footed left back and wingback capable of playing on either side of the back line, he combines technical consistency, tactical intelligence, and the ability to build attacks from wide areas. His development pathway includes elite MLS NEXT competition, full-time training in Spain, and multiple selections within the U.S. Olympic Development Program.
Raised in Annapolis, Maryland, Landon began his competitive career in EDP Division 1, serving as captain of one of the region's top-ranked teams. Originally an attacking player, he contributed goals and assists while developing the work rate, creativity, and attacking instincts that continue to influence his style of play as a modern outside back.
His performances earned invitations to international competition, including Surf Cup International Salou in Spain, where he first gained experience competing against elite European opposition.
In March 2024, at age 14, Landon relocated to Spain to train and compete full-time in one of the world's most demanding soccer environments. Immersed in Spanish methodology, he refined his first touch, positional awareness, technical quality, and speed of play.
During his time in Spain, he competed in the MIC (Mediterranean International Cup) in both 2024 and 2025, as well as Surf Cup Salou in 2024 and 2025, facing professional academy opponents from across Europe, such as Villarreal Youth Academy team. He recorded an assist against Arsenal's academy and both a goal and an assist against Villarreal CF academy sides.
In 2025, Landon earned a trial with CF La Nucía and received an offer to join the club's Juvenil team before returning to the United States for family reasons. His experience training and competing in Spain remains a defining part of his development and continues to shape his style of play today.
While living in Europe, Landon represented ODP Europe in international competition in Germany and Italy.
In July 2025, he was selected to the ODP South Region Team and represented the region at the ODP Interregional Tournament in January 2026. Playing primarily as a right winger and attacking midfielder, he recorded 2 goals and 1 assist, helping his team finish first in its group.
His performances earned selection to the 2009 ODP National Select Team, where he traveled to Valencia, Spain, in April 2026 to compete against top Spanish professional academies. Playing primarily as a right back, he demonstrated defensive reliability and versatility against CD Castellón, Villarreal CF, and Levante UD.
Following those performances, Landon was selected to the 2026 ODP Europe All-Star Team, earning the opportunity to compete against German Bundesliga youth academy clubs during an international tour. Facing one of Europe's highest standards of player development will further expand his experience competing against professional academy opposition.
After returning from Spain in 2025, Landon earned a place at Barça Residency Academy, where he competed in U17 MLS NEXT Academy Division while training in FC Barcelona's positional-play methodology. The experience accelerated his tactical understanding, decision-making, and ability to play within a structured possession-based system.
In July 2026, Landon joined Baltimore Armour U19 MLS NEXT, continuing his development in one of the nation's top MLS NEXT environments. The club's emphasis on technical excellence, tactical intelligence, and player development provides an ideal pathway as he pursues collegiate and professional opportunities.
Landon profiles as a modern attacking outside back who is comfortable on either flank. He is confident receiving under pressure, progressing the ball through wide channels, and recognizing opportunities to join the attack while maintaining defensive balance.
His experience in Spain and at Barca Residency Academy has strengthened his composure in possession, spatial awareness, and tactical decision-making. Defensively, he is dependable in recovery situations, competes well in 1v1 defending, and has demonstrated the versatility to play multiple positions across the back line and midfield when needed.
Landon continues to pursue development through MLS NEXT competition, elite domestic and international competition, and opportunities to train against professional environments. His objective is to compete at the NCAA Division I level while continuing to pursue opportunities within the professional game in the United States or abroad.
